Six in ten Argentines attribute Milei's shift on the Falklands to political convenience

The sovereignty claim enjoys majority backing in Argentine society, but Milei's call for unity inspired confidence in 41% of those consulted and distrust in 56%Some 61.1% of Argentines believe President Javier Milei adopted his current position on the Falklands out of political convenience, against 24.7% who attribute it to conviction, according to a survey by the consultancy Management & Fit of a thousand respondents with a margin of error of 3%.

Falkland Islands are considered the land of the ‘Landy’ RoverJaguar Land Rover announced on Monday it will cut 4,000 jobs across its global workforce as it tries to cut costs and compete with Chinese electric carmakers. Britain’s biggest automaker said the job cuts will take place over the next two years as it targets 1.7 billion pounds (US$2.3 billion) in savings to make it more competitive as the industry transitions to electrification.

A port dispute in Montevideo blocks a second ferry operator on the Buenos Aires route

Port of MontevideoUruguayan ferry company Colonia Express obtained authorisation from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works at the end of July to operate the passenger and vehicle route between Montevideo and Buenos Aires, but cannot begin the service because the only ramp at the Montevideo port suitable for unloading cars belongs to Buquebus, the company that currently runs the crossing alone.
